Jim Reich, Lawyer

Jim, a native of Winnipeg, moved to Calgary in 1977 after first attending the University of Manitoba from 1974 to 1976. While attending the University of Calgary he earned a Bachelor of Physical Education, a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and received his Bachelor of Laws Degree in 1987. Jim established his own law practice in 1990.

Throughout his career Jim has been an active member of the Canadian Bar Association ("CBA") in various sections affecting his practice. He has chaired the Residential Real Estate Subsection for two years and has chaired the Foreclosure Subsection for six years during his career. Jim is the current chair of the CBA Foreclosure Subsection.

Jim has been a guest speaker to the Foreclosure, Real Property and Young Lawyer Subsections of the CBA. He has presented a paper to a joint seminar of the Legal Education Society of Alberta ("LESA") and the Alberta Trial Lawyers Association. Jim has also been presenter to foreclosure practitioners for LESA and has been a panel member for LESA on current issues directed at legal support staff on both foreclosure and real property matters.

Jim has given many presentations to members of the real estate and banking community and is a volunteer instructor on buying and selling property for Chinook Learning Services, a not for profit institution for continuing education.

Jim is a family man who, with his wife, Lorrie and their two children, Lauren and Taylor, are active members of the community. They attend Centre Street Church in Calgary where Jim currently serves as a member of the choir and the Worship and Arts Advisory Committee.

In his spare time, Jim loves to sing and golf. One day he will pursue his guitar again. Jim played junior varsity basketball for two years at the University of Manitoba and three years of varsity volleyball at the University of Calgary. Jim is active as a Dino alumnus, assisting raising scholarship funds for current Dino volleyball players by playing in the annual golf tournament.
